While the most important aspect of a musical performance is the artistic competency, we do make the following suggestions to help “fine tune” your presentation.
- Plan ahead of time who will be your accompanist.
- Plan your item according to the time limits within your category. A volunteer will be keeping time during the competition; look out for signals from him/her.
- Be near the stage at least 10 minutes before your competition group begins performing.
- Remain in the hall for the entire duration of the performances within your competition group.
- Tune your instrument before you get to the stage. Any necessary adjustments after getting on stage should take less than a minute.
- Acknowledge the audience and the judges.
- Keep good posture.
- Smile!
